Restorative Dentistry in Coeur d'Alene
Patients from Coeur d’Alene and the Northern Idaho surrounding communities who have damaged or decayed smiles have enough to worry about – pain, stress, anxiety – and worrying about whether their smiles will ever look or feel normal again shouldn’t be on their minds. Let the Coeur d’Alene dentist and team handle the repair and restoration of your smile. We offer a number of restorative dentistry options to renew damaged oral health and replace lost teeth. No matter how painful or extensive the dental damage, Dr. Filip Orban and his dentistry team have treatment options to put smiles back on our patients’ faces.
All teeth are made up of three layers and two parts. The outer surface of teeth is made up of hard dental enamel. Beneath the enamel is a supportive layer of dentin, and the very inner layer is known as pulp, which contains the nerve system of teeth. The visible portion of the tooth is the crown, and below the gums is the root structure that supports teeth, anchoring smiles in place. A root canal is necessary when patients experience a painful infection of the inner pulp layer of teeth. These infections are so painful because they directly affect the nerve system. The treatment itself typically alleviates pain by removing the infection.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Third molars are known as wisdom teeth, since they typically erupt at the age of wisdom – when a patient is in their late teens or early twenties. These are the last teeth to erupt in patients’ smiles, and they bring a number of health concerns with them. In many cases, patients’ jaws do not have adequate space for these additional teeth, leading to crowding and impaction (inability of teeth to erupt from the gum line). In many cases, extraction is the best option to maintain oral health, and we’re happy to provide wisdom tooth removal in our Coeur d’Alene office.
