Your Delta Dental Dentist

Are you insured with Delta Dental? If so, you’re in good company. Delta Dental is America’s largest dental benefits provider, with 34.5 million enrollees. Families and individuals all across Idaho trust Dental Dental with their dental coverage. Dr. Orban at Orban Family Dental is the Delta Dental dentist providing comprehensive dental care. From thorough general and preventive dentistry to restorative and cosmetic services, we’ve got everything our patients need to enjoy healthy, happy smiles for a lifetime!

If you are like most people, however, you probably have a few questions about your dental insurance. Like, how does it work? And what does it mean that Dr. Orban is “in-network” with Delta Dental? What services are covered under your dental insurance plan? We’ve put together a dental insurance FAQ to help you learn more about your benefits. We know that simply understanding your plan is the key to making the most out of your investment!

Q: How does dental insurance work?

A: Dental insurance is like a medical benefits plan. In exchange for a predetermined amount of money each month -- the premium you or your employer pay -- your insurance provider will fully or partially cover certain dental treatments.

Q: What is the difference between in-network and out-of-network?

A: A dentist who is in-network with a dental insurance provider has come to an agreement to provide care for a certain amount of money. That means you get dental care at a reduced price. Dr. Orban is in-network with Delta Dental insurance. An out-of-network dentist, by contrast, has not agreed to work with the dental insurance provider. Going out of your network can make care a lot more expensive. PPO, or preferred provider organizations, can be an exception, as they allow greater flexibility.

Q: What does my dental insurance plan cover?

A: This question is vital to making the most out of your investment. Because it’s always easier (and less expensive) to keep problems from developing than to fix an existing issue, preventive dentistry should be fully covered by most dental plans. That means a twice-annual checkup, cleaning, and annual x-rays. Higher premiums mean better coverage. Restorative dentistry and possibly even select cosmetic treatments may be covered by your dental plan.

To find out what is included in your dental plan, you can contact Delta Dental directly to discuss your benefits. If you are covered through your employer, you can also find out about your coverage through your human resources department.

Q: Are dental implants covered by dental insurance?

A: People often want to know if dental implants are covered by their insurance plan. They’re the best option in tooth replacement, but because there are less expensive treatments available, dental implants are often considered an elective procedure and are thus ineligible for coverage. But as more people choose dental implants, it’s becoming more common for implant dentistry to be covered by insurance. Contact Delta Dental to find out the specifics.
