Dental Crowns & Bridges

Woman smiling widely while in dental chairSeverely damaged or missing teeth cause a great deal of pain and stress for patients, but Dr. Filip Orban and his Coeur d’Alene dental team offer dental crowns and fixed bridges to restore or replace teeth, completing smiles. We welcome patients from Post Falls and other nearby communities to visit our state-of-the-art practice for a restorative dentistry consultation. During a consultation, we examine damaged dental structures and provide recommendations for the proper treatment and restoration. Whether we’re able to restore a damaged tooth with a dental crown or replace the tooth with a fixed bridge, our team provides the skilled care patients need to relieve pain and complete smiles.

Dental Crowns

Patients who experience tooth decay or damage that’s too advanced to be corrected with dental fillings may require the more advanced dental crown restoration. As the name suggests, a dental crown fits over the top of a damaged tooth and provides renewed strength and stability. The process typically takes two visits over the course of two or more weeks to complete. During the initial visit, patients’ teeth are prepared. Decayed dental structure is removed and damaged areas are smoothed in preparation for the crown. We take dental impressions and X-rays that are used by a lab to create custom restorations. While the dental crown is crafted, patients wear a temporary restoration crafted in our office. Once the custom restoration is completed, patients return to our practice to receive their permanent solution. The crown is fused with remaining healthy tooth structure using dental cement.

Crown & Bridge Tooth Replacement

Crown and bridge (or fixed bridge tooth replacements) utilize healthy surrounding teeth to support a replacement tooth or teeth. Fixed bridges are adequate to replace one to three consecutive missing teeth. The process is similar to that of dental crown placement, but it requires the preparation of at least two healthy teeth to receive a crown. The entire restoration is crafted as a single prosthetic with two dental crowns connected to the replacement tooth or teeth. At an initial visit, patients’ teeth are prepared for the restoration and impressions are taken to be used by a ceramics lab to create their fixed bridge. Like a dental crown, patients need to wear a temporary restoration while the custom solution is made. They’ll then return to our office for a visit to exchange the temporary for a final solution.
